Game Producer

Description

The Game Producer is responsible for delivering the game project on time, on budget and at the highest level of quality.    The Game Producer will maintain the project backlog, task lists  and schedule, and prepare regular status reports and projections for the Executive team.  Skilled at risk assessment, planning, and practical, measured management of crisis, the Producer will always have a broad sense of the project schedule and be able to provide appropriate direction to the team.  Possessing incredibly strong verbal and written communications skills, the Producer has all of the answers to Who, What, and When regarding the project’s deliverables.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage Art, Design and Programming Leads;
2. Communicate and explain tasks and schedule to all members of the team;
3. Communicate and explain risks and costs to Executive team;
4. Make practical budget decisions based on risk/reward and effort;
5. Develop and create strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals;
6. Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees;
7. Seeks out and manages consultants and contractors;
8. Follows direction set by Development Director.

Skills


The Game Producer must demonstrate an ability to lead a project to completion.  They must demonstrate the ability to work as a leader/role model and be able to manage workers directly and remotely.  They must have clearly demonstrated increasing responsibility and team management in prior delivered products.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game making process, direct experience (+2 years) as a Game Producer , expertise in various development methodologies, including Agile, XP and Waterfall are required.  Clear communication skills orally and in writing are of paramount importance.
